What is a Hauptwerk console and how does it work?

A Hauptwerk console is a digital playing computer for organ music, specifically designed for the playback of organ literature and the performance of concerts. It simulates the sound and playing experience of a traditional pipe organ.

In the powerful software program, sample sets of organs that have been sampled can be loaded. The sound (both the attack and release of the tone) of each individual pipe is then recorded and can be reproduced in your console. Through these techniques, lively sounds can be guaranteed.

During play, a staccato tone sounds different than a portato tone thanks to the use of advanced techniques. Hauptwerk also provides an extremely realistic reproduction, making it possible to truly experience the organs.

Hundreds of sample sets on one organ

Where original organs stop, a Hauptwerk console goes further! For example, you can easily adjust the temperament or pitch without having to tune each pipe. And on one organ, you can have multiple sample sets – from Baroque to Romantic. Currently, hundreds are available, so there is something for everyone, including you.

Experience music as it was meant to be

Playing on a Mixtuur organ is always a joy. Add the possibilities of a Hauptwerk console, and your day can’t get any better. Furthermore, you don’t have to keep your playing to yourself because with Hauptwerk, you can also make your own recordings in CD quality or as a MIDI file in no time. Record your music and share it with family and friends. Experience music as it was meant to be – now also at home!

What does a Hauptwerk console cost?

The basic version of a Hauptwerk console costs $249. The advanced software costs $599. If you want to use the wind model, multiple monitors, per-pipe voicing, and 512-channel output, we recommend the latter. If you prefer to start with a simpler model, the basic version is already sufficient.

In addition to the software, you will need to purchase at least one sample set. These prices range from $100 to $1500 per set.

Don’t know anything about computers?

No problem. The technology of Mixtuur ensures that you don’t need any computer knowledge to enjoy your favorite organs. Of course, it is also possible to get a Hauptwerk console with all digital features, such as a touchscreen. This gives you full control over the whole thing. If you find this a bit overwhelming, you can also choose a simpler version with Mixtuur technology for optimal ease of use.

You don’t have to worry about installation either. When you buy a Mixtuur organ with a Hauptwerk console, we will arrange the installation for you. The only thing left for you to do is … play!
