What’s the longest organ pipe in the world?
The largest organ pipe is 64 feet or 19,5 meters. There are two instruments that have a full-length 64’stop. The first one is the Midmer-Losh organ at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The second one is the Pogson organ in the Organ Sydney Town Hall.
It is possible to build pipe organs with longer pipes (128′ is the next step), but a human would no longer discern pitch. It would take a long time for air to vibrate and produce a sound. Chances are that a listener would not hear anything.
On average, the longest pipe of an organ is 16 feet. Cathedral organs usually have one (or maybe two) 32 foot pipes.
